Artist’s Statement for one board and film, Gym Rings 3 floor boards

To Move, to dance is to live, to breath.  The internal world seeking connections with external space.  Emotional desires driving lyrical drawing in space.  To train, to move, to trace.  A gesture, a mark arrives.  Colour, a visual catalyst for emotion mirrored inside/outside.  Glimpses, moments, dreams and fantasy.  Alice has fallen down the rabbit hole. Traces which reveal a happening, a moment of perfect wishfulness.

In the studio, Gym Rings, apparatus to train on, to test, to take flight.  Nike, the Goddess of Victory, encourages a mimicking of her ways.   I hug the discipline of training.  A + B = C. Women don’t generally use The Rings.  Shiraga inspired me using his rope in the studio.   The Rings help create poetry with which to Move and then make a Trace, of my unfolding story.  Strength and grace, front and back cover.  When I glance around, I spot the white fur far ahead in the distance.
